The Heat with EPL Season 2022-23

Mark your calendars for a new season of the English Premier League starting on August 5, which, as the summer transfers suggest, promises a lot of heat. This year, the new season begins earlier than usual as the Qatar World Cup 2022 is scheduled for November-December, during which the domestic soccer leagues will suspend.

Speaking of summer transfers, every single EPL team has been active this summer in recruiting talents. Among the many transfers, some have significantly turned heads. Manchester City and Liverpool saw key players go and added to their offensive lines as if they had had problems scoring goals. Sadio Mane, who scored several goals alongside Salah for many years, left Liverpool for the German-side Bayern Munich. Among many players, Manchester City's Jesus and Sterling were the two significant players to have left the club. Jesus joined Arsenal, and Sterling signed with Chelsea.

Manchester's blues and Metcyside's reds have made news by signing giant strikers. Erling Haaland, the goal-scoring beast, moved to City for the German Dortmund, and Liverpool brought on Nunez from Fulham. The two strikers' first face-off was during the Community Shield Cup on Saturday. Nunez scored a goal as a substitute in Liverpool's 3-1 victory over City, whose Haaland didn't do well.

Having disappointed their fans since Sir Alex Fergusson's departure, Manchester United has been shaking things up, too. Their new manager, Erik ten Hag, has been active with new recruitments and vocal about the players' weaknesses. United let go of several players, key among whom are Cavani and Pogba. Jesse Lingard moved to Nottingham Forest. On the other hand, they brought Malacia from Feyenoord, Eriksen from Brentford, and Martinez from Ajax to strengthen their squad. They still have their eyes on Barcelona's de Jong (or alternatives if de Jong's move fails.) Then, Ronaldo, who has an eye on the Champions League, announced his will to leave the Red Devils. However, it seems like he will be staying in Old Trafford.

There have been so many significant moves in this summer's transfer window that it is impossible to mention them all. To name a few others, Arsenal recruited Zinchenko from Man City, Coutinho and Kamara joined Villa from Barcelona and Marseille, respectively, Crystal palace signed Richards from Bayern Munich, Pereira moved from Man Utd to Fulham, Aston Villa's Targett and Lille's Botman moved to Newcastle, Dean Henderson moved to Nottingham Forest on loan from Manchester United, and Spurs signed Everton's Richarlison. This means the next EPL season promises even more potential for some heated competition for the title or a place in the top four. So, what to watch for this weekend?

Starting at 3:00 PM EST on Friday, the matchup between Crystal Palace and Arsenal is a cannot-miss match. With Jesus, Vieira, and Zinchenko in their squad, it's interesting to see how much Arsenal have improved. Arsenal will likely pack their first win of the season in this game.

Saturday's games between Fulham and Liverpool at 7:30 AM EST and Everton and Chelsea at 12:30 PM EST should be exciting. Spurs are hosting newcomer Southampton at 10:00 AM EST, which is probably a test of their squad with the addition of Richarlison. Liverpool and Spurs seem to have easier tasks on Saturday to win their games. On the other hand, Chelsea may have to suffice to a draw against the Mercyside's blues.

All three games scheduled for Sunday are a must-watch. Leicester will be hosting Brentford, who caused problems for even the big teams last season and may continue doing so, at 9:00 AM EST. At the same time, Brighton will play against Manchester United in the Theater of Dreams. West Ham will have a difficult start at home against Manchester City at 11:30 AM EST. Leicester may challenge their ways through their first wins, but draws are not impossible. Manchester City will likely snatch a victory.

As with my predictions for the remaining games of the weekend:

• Bournemouth are likely to lose against the visiting Aston Villa,

• Leeds and Wolves will agree to a draw, and

• The rejuvenated Newcastle will see their way through a victory over Nottingham Forest.
