2022 ‘This or That?’ Fantasy Analysis: Breece Hall vs Ezekiel Elliott

Must Have: Breece Hall (ESPN Rank: 19; SDN Rank: 15)

Hall was the first running back taken in the 2022 draft. The 2022 draft lacked a lot of running back talent, but Hall will be sure to make an impact on the Jets. With an improved offensive line (ranked 13th by PFF) and a much better Zach Wilson, Hall will not only see a lot of carries and rushing yards, but he will also have a huge receiving upside. After a rough rookie year, Zach Wilson will turn to one or two guys for the majority of the year. Those guys? Elijah Moore and Breece Hall. And while Michael Carter had a pretty good rookie season and a huge week 8 breakout game (172 yards and a TD) we will not see the Jets do a running back by committee offense. Hall will be their RB1 and he could even be the best on your fantasy team.

Must Avoid: Ezekiel Elliott (ESPN Rank: 20; SDN Rank: 23)

It's become very safe to say that Zeke has not turned into the running back we all expected him to be. In the past two seasons, Zeke has finished outside the top 15 for PPG among running backs. The Cowboys' offensive line has been incredible for years and they will continue to be this season (ranked 6th by PFF), but that is not Zeke's biggest concern. What Zeke and his fantasy owners need to worry about is Tony Pollard. Contrary to Zeke, Pollard has been progressing every season and at times looks much better than Zeke. With the loss of Amari Cooper, I think we will definitely see more RB touches, but do not be surprised if those touches go directly to Pollard.
