20 April - Mets vs. Giants (9:45 PM ET)
The New York Mets and San Francisco Giants face off tonight in the first of a four-game series between these two teams. For the Mets, they look to continue the early success they’ve had so far this season, coming into this game with a 12-7 overall record and an impressive 8-5 record on the road. The Giants come into this one searching for a little magic. This team needs a run, after a 6-11 start to the season and will look to get a much-needed win for their ball club.
To continue that success tonight, the Mets will have right hander Kodai Senga on the bump in San Francisco. Senga, 30, has had a decent start to his MLB career, posting a sub four ERA in his first three starts, getting the win in two of those three. The Mets on the other hand, have won every Kodai Senga start this season due to the amount of run support they have given him. In Senga starts for the Mets, they are producing 9 runs per start, which includes the last start against the Athletics in which the Mets scored 17 total runs. Look for the Mets to continue this hot offensive run they’ve had on this west coast road trip.
The Giants need a win at home tonight against what is turning out to be the number one team in the league in the New York Mets. To try and get that much needed win, the Giants are throwing veteran left hander Sean Manea tonight. Manea, 31, comes into this season sporting his third different uniform in as many seasons, making his first stint with the Oakland Athletics from 2016-2021, the San Diego Padres in a small stint last season, and now to revamp his career, he is with this Giants squad. Manea has struggled since having shoulder surgery in September of 2018. Since then, Manea has gone 15-22 with a 4.53 ERA, in 73 total starts and has just not looked the same ever since.
Some might say we have two “unknowns” on the hill tonight for both ball clubs, but from my view I know one thing is for sure, and that is that these Mets have been smashing the baseball, and that’s what I will be putting my money behind tonight.
