13 April - Twins vs. Yankees Pick (7:05 PM EST)

Two of the hottest teams to start the 2023 MLB seasons face off tonight in a weekend series in the Bronx. The Minnesota Twins travel today to take on the New York Yankees in what could be a preview of a playoff series come October. This ball game gives us an intriguing pitching matchup. Two up and coming starters who are off to great starts to their 2023 campaign.

Joe Ryan takes the bump for the Twins in game one of this series. Ryan, coming off a great second season in the big leagues, is looking to solidify himself as one of the best young arms in the game this season. So far so good for Ryan, he has made two starts, both ending up being wins for his team against the Royals and defending champions Houston Astros. Unfortunately for Ryan, he did struggle in that Astros game, and that is becoming an unfortunate pattern. Dating back to last year, Ryan has struggled against top tier lineups. Last year in facing teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Padres, Astros, Ryan struggled posting a 11.35 ERA in those 4 starts.

On the other side of the diamond, Jhony Brito is turning heads all over the league to start the season, with his impressive start to his MLB career. Brito has started his MLB career with two awesome starts, going 10 innings on 5 hits, allowing only 1 earned run with an opponent batting average of .152. What is even more impressive with Brito’s start to his career, is how well he has handled left-handed hitters. Left-handed hitters are hitting an awful, 3 for 22 off Brito with no extra base hits and an OPS of .367.

Both these teams have come off firing to start the season, but the Yankees have had so much success against this Twins team over the last year or so that is hard for me to fade a Yankees team who are hitting homeruns and who have their young and upcoming pitching prospects pitching like aces.
